Bart Vermilya is a Registered Acupuncturist in the state of Michigan. He has a Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine from the Phoenix Institute of Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture (PIHMA). Bart has received additional training in Tui Na (Chinese style massage) and Seifukujitsu which is a Japanese style of restorative body work used by martial artists to recover from injuries.
Bart has a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University and an extensive background in Telecommunications. His entire career has been spent on problem solving issues within complex integrated systems and networks. The human body is such a system. His engineering background helps him develop a logical approach to a treatment plan that is unique to each patient while his Eastern training allows him to see each person as more than a ‘sum of their parts’ allowing him to treat the whole person.
Bart was initially introduced to Chinese Medicine 20 years ago, when he started taking martial arts as an outlet to deal with the stress that came along with being a civil engineer and later, a telecommunications analyst. A marital arts injury led him to try Chinese Medicine as a way to heal naturally and he was surprised at the positive results. That “injury” was what inspired him to take on a different career path as an Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist.
Bart’s other interests include teaching Martial arts, Tai Chi, and Qi Gong. He enjoys spending time outdoors camping and hiking, but his greatest joy is spending time with family and friends.
